 Boys Basketball: All boys interested in playing basketball this year, open gym conditioning has begun. Those of you not in a fall sport, we will meet in the weight room right after school. We will meet every Tuesday and Thursday until the regular season begins.

Slam Poetry Team: Calling all part time poets, hip hop heads, and modern day minstrels, the Glenbard North Slam Poetry team needs you! If you have a voice that is dying to be heard, then come be a part of one of the most unique activities at GBN. Louder Than a Bomb, the largest youth poetry slam in the country, is just a few months away, so join us this Thursday, September 13th in Room 1307 immediately after school for an informational meeting. Bring a friend and come meet like-minded lyricists just like you.

The Well: The Well is Glenbard North’s Christian Club. It meets every Friday morning in room 2304 at 6:45 AM. All students are welcome whether you call yourself a Christian or not. Every Friday morning there is food, fun, and fellowship in a positive atmosphere. If you want more information contact Mr. Wit.

Unity Dance Club: The Unity Dance Club is looking for both new and experienced dancers in hip-hop/urban dance! With a focus on collaboration and fun, the club intends to expand upon the dance community here at GBN. Come and join us after school on Thursday, September 13th in Room 1231.

Future Doctors of America: The first Future Doctors of America meeting will be this Thursday September 13th at 6:45am. We will meet in 2230!

 Civics Club: Attention Juniors and Seniors. Do you want to work as a real, live election judge on November 6th in DuPage County? Come to a 20 minute meeting in Room 1-110 on September 11 at 7:10 am or 2:30 pm, September 12 at 2:30 pm, or September 13 at 7:10 am. If you are interested, you are required to attend one of the four meeting options. Any questions, see your social studies teacher.

 Social Studies Department: Attention Seniors that will be 18 on or before November 6th and are US citizens: At our School Wide Mock Election on September 20th we will be registering all voters. Please come to school with two forms of ID (school ID and Driver’s License or state ID work great) and register to vote during your social studies class or during your lunch. Registering is your ticket in to the voting booth on November 6th. And don’t worry, we will supply educational materials so you know what you’re doing! We can also update any staff members registration if you’ve moved or changed your name.

 Girls Cross-Country: Congratulations to the varsity Girls Cross-country team on their 10th place finish in the 22 team Lake Park Invitational on Saturday. Elelta Sisay led the team with her 44th place finish. The Freshman/Sophomore team also had a strong showing – placing 6th and led by Taylor Destafano in 25th place and Camila Vila in 30th. Great job, Ladies! Your Lady Panthers race again this Friday afternoon at the Riverside-Brookfield Invitational. Good luck!

 Club Interact: Are you seeking ways to give back to your school, community, and others in need? Then join Club Interact, a Rotary-sponsored service organization looking for service-minded young leaders. Volunteer at Kids Against Hunger to package food for those without, the Giving Tree collects gifts for victims of domestic violence, the Linus Blankets’ Project makes blankets for sick children, or team up with the community to fill up local food pantries. Learn more at our first meeting on Tuesday, September 11th, at 2:45 p.m. in the Faculty Cafeteria. All are welcome! Discover the power of Service Above Self!

 SADD: Would you like to make a difference at GBN? Come to room 1241 on Wednesday after school and see what SADD is all about.

 Model United Nations: Are you interested in international relations? Do you aspire to be a world leader? Do you like working with others to try and solve problems? If so, Model United Nations might be for you! Come to our first meeting on Thursday morning at 7:05 in room 1116 – Mrs. Myers’ room.

 Future Teachers of America: Do you have any interest in becoming a teacher? Well, the Future Teachers of America is holding its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 11th after school in room 1105. Come enjoy a cookie or two and see what it’s all about. If you have any questions, talk to Mr. Schuldt.

 Girls Tennis: Congratulations to the varsity girls tennis team! They placed second overall in the Glenbard East tournament this weekend. Sophie Raval placed 1st at second singles, Sage Hills placed 2nd at first singles, Catherine and Cynthia Nguyen placed 2nd at second doubles, and Sachi Shukla and Jill Patel placed 2nd at third doubles. Way to go girls!
