Attendance Committee: GBN, you are now in the Attendance War Zone!!! Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors, who will have the highest attendance percentage at the end of the month? Listen out for the leading class during weekly announcements! Continue attending today and achieving tomorrow because attendance counts!!! It’s a great day to be a panther!

Coat Drive: Fall is here, and the weather is getting colder. Unfortunately, there are many students at Glenbard North who do not have winter coats or the money to afford them. If you have winter coats that you and your family members are no longer using, please consider donating them to help our fellow Panthers. We are looking for used coats that are clean and in good condition. You can bring any donations to Rebecca Nielsen in the Main Office or to Jennifer Buck-Castaneda in 2235 or 2236. Donations will be distributed to any GN students or staff in need.

Football: Congratulations to the football team for their 35-8 victory over Benet Academy. We play at Mount Carmel Saturday 1 p.m. in the second round of the playoffs.

Speech Team: Congratulations to all who competed at the first speech tournament of the season, including: Nicoletta Boik who took sixth place in Informative Speaking, Arsima Araya who took fourth place in Oratorical Declamation, and Julie Paska who took third in Special Occasion Speaking. Good luck at Fremd this Saturday!

Women’s Empowerment Club: Women’s Empowerment Club will have a meeting on Thursday, November 7th to discuss our upcoming community service project. Please come to Room 1219 right after school. See Mrs. Hancock or Mrs. VanDerLaan with questions.

Asian American Association: Interested in learning more about Asian-American culture and meeting new people? Join us after school this Wednesday, November 6th for the first Asian-American Association meeting in room 1-108.

Scholastic Bowl: In scholastic bowl action this weekend, the Panthers competed at the University of Chicago against some of the best teams in the midwest and came away with 3 victories vs. 8 losses. Meghan Dontha and Vincent Cauilan led the Panthers with 33 and 23 toss-ups, respectively. Glenbard North opens its conference season this week at HOME on Thursday vs. St. Charles East and Wheaton South.

Girls Gymnastics: Girls Gymnastics will be starting on Nov 11th. Open gym will be this Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Come learn a backflip, cartwheel and meet new friends…We can’t wait to see you there.

Glenbard North/East co-op girls Swim: Congratulations to the Glenbard North/East Girls Swim as they nabbed 3rd place at the Varsity level at Conference on Saturday! Way to swim ladies! And good luck swimming at Sectionals!

Wrestling: There is a wrestling meeting this Thursday for anyone interested in joining the wrestling program–no experience required. The meeting is this Thursday, November 7, at 2:35 p.m. in the varsity wrestling room. Again, this meeting is for all ages–freshman through seniors. Come out and be a part of something special.

Model United Nations: Nice work Anthony Butera! At Friday’s Model United Nations conference he was recognized for the 3rd best delegate out of a committee of almost 100!

Theatre: Ticket sales for Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night are now available for purchase at the box office by the cafeteria. Performances are November 14th, 15th, and 16th at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre. Tickets cost $8 with cash or check, or $9 with a credit card. You can also buy tickets online at www.glenbardnorthhs.seatyourself.biz.

Girls Basketball: Tryouts for Girls Basketball begin November 4 in the gym. All girls planning to try out need to get a gold card from the Athletic office in order to try out. If you need more information see Coach Wit in room 2304, the Athletic Office, or send him an email.

Student Council: Attention Seniors would you like to donate blood to save a life? The fall blood drive will be November 6th and you can sign up at http://bit.ly/GBNBDFall If you are under 18 you will need a permission slip from room 1120.

Science Olympiad: Science Olympiad is back at Glenbard North! If you are interested in competing against other schools in a wide variety of science events, Science Olympiad is the club for you! We compete in a wide variety of subjects- Anatomy and Physiology, Genetics, Engineering, Astronomy, Geology, Chemistry- we do it all! We’ll be kicking off our season in room 2301 on November the 4th at 2:45- come join the fun! We’ll see you there on November the 4th at 2:45 in room 2301! Athletic Office: Winter sports season is just around the corner. Please stop by the Athletic office and get your gold card today! All students must have an up to date athletic physical and a gold card on file in the Athletic Office before participating in tryouts for any sport. Pick yours up either before or after school; or during your lunch hour. See Ms. Hengesh with any questions.

National Technical Honor Society: STEM is a fast growing field and interested by many students. Join the National Technical Honor Society to be part of this field. Come to the computer lab (1565) on Thursdays to learn more about different fields, competitions to participate in and the competition North will be running this October! See Mr. OBrien for details.

Woods Club: Interested in coming to learn how to make your own projects, carve designs or more about woodworking? Please come to North’s Woodshop every Tuesday at 2:45-4:00 to learn more. Talk to Mr. OBrien if you have questions!
