Girls Track and Field: The Girls Track & Field season begins this week. Our first practice will be on Tuesday – meet in the west gym balcony at 2:50pm. Athletes need to register in PowerSchool and get a Gold Card. See Coach Day with any questions. We hope to see you on Tuesday!

Scholastic Bowl:  Congratulations to the Panther Quiz Bowl team for winning the Dukane conference championship for the second year in a row! Instrumental to the team’s success are two-time all-conference players Hamza Ghaffari, Andrew de Leon, and Nijal Patel, as well as senior Ben Swinehart and sophomores Madalyn Cook and Emily Garling. Also congratulations to the JV team, which won its first conference championship in years, anchored by juniors Nathan Nguyen and Ulrich Lazzatin, and freshmen Braden Warren, Zayan Bekinalkar, and Ishanth Dontha.

Chess: Congratulations to the GBN Chess team. They went 3 and 1 at their sectionals this weekend, getting them a 6th place finish, which qualifies them for the state tournament in Peoria in two weeks. Team members included: Corvin Dang, Wendell Hughes, Marvin Gandhi, Daniel Prochaska, John Ha, Abe Thang, Kenneth Mayo, Jayson Randle, Josh Idiyaly, and Jaden Holtz. Good luck at state!

Super Fans: Let’s get loud for girls and boys basketball this week! The girls team takes on Wheaton North on Thursday night, and Friday night is boys basketball senior night vs. Lake Park. See you there.

The  Black Student Association: is inviting everyone, staff and students, to celebrate Black History Month with a program titled, “Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future” on Wednesday, February 1st from 3pm-4pm in the auditorium. The show is free and there will be dance, musical performances, spoken word, rap, and vocalists. Please come out and support our students!    

Girls Soccer: The girls soccer season is only a few weeks away! Athletes that are not competing in a winter sport should prepare by joining the pre-season strength and conditioning program on Mondays and Wednesdays after school. All training sessions will start in the weightroom. We’ve had a great turn out so far so don’t miss out and fall behind. We look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions, see Coach Dominguez in the science hallway.

SENIORS CLASS OF 2023: It is time to purchase your SENIOR CLASS T-SHIRT and YARD SIGN. Go to School pay to get both.

Creative Writing & Lit Mag Club: Calling all creative writers & artists! If you’re interested in creating and assembling GBN’s Literary Magazine this spring, come to the Creative Writing Club meeting Tuesday, January 31 after school in room 1220. Talk to your English teacher or see Ms. Quinn if you have any questions!

Yearbook:  If you haven’t purchased your 2023 Glenbard North Yearbook yet, you don’t have much time left! Your final deadline to log onto Jostens.com for Glenbard North High School is February 24, 2023. Take a minute with your family to ensure you’ve got memories captured for a lifetime!  

Club Interact:  Attention all students! Please join us for Glenbard North’s annual Valentines for Vets activity during all lunch periods Tuesday, January 31st- Thursday, February 2nd! Supplies will be provided in the cafeteria so that you can make some cards and show some love to those currently in service or that have served on our behalf!

The Well: Come to the Well! The Well is GBN’s Christian Club, and we meet every Wednesday at 6:45 AM for Bible study, discussion, prayer, and donuts! You and any questions you may have are welcome. Email Mr. Wit with any questions.    

BOYS TENNIS: Interested in joining GBN’s Boys Tennis team this season? Stop by room 1580 on January 31st after school. We will be hosting a brief meeting to inform you what this year’s season will look like and how to prepare you before Try-Outs. See you then!

Counseling: Local Scholarships: Class of 2023 Local Scholarships: Do you need $$ for college or a trade school? Go to the Local Scholarship Schoology Group and start filling out applications today. Deadlines range from late January to March.
