Glenbard North Health Center is staffed by two certified school nurses and one secretary. Students are assisted with immediate health concerns and chronic medical challenges. The school nurses work closely with all members of the Pupil Service Team, which includes School Counselors, School Psychologists, Social Workers, and Deans. The school nurses identify and plan for students with health concerns with a goal of optimal health. School nurses monitor students with chronic illnesses, hospitalizations, attendance concerns, and injuries.

A student who becomes ill during the school day should obtain a pass from the classroom teacher before going to the Health Office unless an emergency situation exists. Students required to be excused from school during the school day due to illness or injury must report to the Health Office. Students are excused with the permission of a parent/guardian or designee only.

Parents may request in writing a temporary excuse from participation in physical education for up to three (3) days in any one semester. A physician’s note must be presented for excuses beyond three (3) days. *Notes from Chiropractors and Physical Therapists are NOT accepted*

MENINGOCOCCAL CONJUGATE (MCV4) VACCINATION REQUIREMENT – 12th GRADE SCHOOL ENTRY

(click link for vaccine information)

The Illinois Department of Public Health requires that all students entering 12th grade show proof of receiving two doses of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4, MenACWY). The first dose is given on or after your child’s 11th birthday and the second dose on or after their 16th birthday. If your student received their first dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine after their 16th birthday, then only one dose is required for entry into 12th grade.

Glenbard North requires that all incoming 12th grade students provide proof that they have received their immunizations prior to the first day of school. Students not in compliance will be excluded on the first day of school. Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine Form
