Welcome to the GBN Guidance Department
GBN school code- 140-534

The Guidance Department offers a group of services designed to assist students to develop their talents and capabilities and to benefit from the school's educational program. In addition to school counselors, the Guidance Department includes the services of school psychologists and school social workers that are available for consultation with students and/or parents.

Counselors assist students to plan for both the present and the future and to help students become self-directing and responsible school citizens. We encourage parents to be active in the student's planning process. The responsibility to make decisions ultimately belongs to the parents and student. Counselors are available for consultation regarding:

Appropriate course selection
Post high school planning
Personal and school problems
College and job recommendations
Testing information and interpretation
Orientation to Glenbard North

The receptionist in the Guidance Office will arrange an appointment with your counselor upon request.  School psychologists and social workers are also available to provide supportive services to students. These services include: individual and group counseling, assessment for special education needs, and educational consultation to parents and staff. These services are NOT intended to substitute for insurance-based therapy.

The process for graduates to obtain a transcript is as follows:

1.  If you live in the area you may come into the guidance office Monday-Friday between 7am and 3pm, fill out the form and pay the $3 fee.  Transcripts for past grads are pulled once a week and usually are processed within a week to ten days.

2.  If you need to mail the request in to us, it must include your name at the time of graduation, the month and year you graduated, your date of birth, a daytime telephone number, where you would like the transcript sent and $3 cash or money order.  We do not accept personal checks.

District Policy does not allow a student or parent to hand carry an official transcript, so official transcripts must be sent to the institution that is requesting the document.
