A message from the Principal… Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members: It seems like we said goodbye to the 2011 graduates only a few weeks ago and yet we are busy preparing for the new school year.  I am proud to be affiliated with a school that has such a talented student body, highly supportive parents and deeply involved, dedicated staff.  I would like to welcome the parents of the Class of 2015.   Glenbard North has made great strides over the last few years and there is much to be proud of: Glenbard North boasts the highest attendance rate in the district at 94.5%. Glenbard North has experienced over a 50% decrease in suspensions over the past five years. During the 2010-2011 school year, Glenbard North experienced an 11% decrease in our failure rate. Glenbard North students are showing some of the highest growth scores in the history of our school. For the first time, Glenbard North was listed as one of the top schools in the nation by the Washington Post.  Schools on this list represent only 7% of schools across the nation. From 2005 to 2011, Glenbard North experienced a 77% increase in the number of Advanced Placement Tests given.  At the same time, our pass percentage on AP exams increased from 81.5% to 84.7%. As I begin my sixth year as principal, my goal remains to ensure a student-focused learning environment where every student succeeds.  I promise to hold myself to the highest ethical and professional standards.  If there are ways you think I can improve our communication to families please let me know.  You can always contact me at (630) 681-3184, or send me an e-mail: john_mensik@glenbard.org I want to give a sincere “Thank You” to all of the parents who volunteered their time last year in support of our Post Prom event.  Because of their efforts over 250 students traveled down town to sail on the Odyssey, while enjoying the skyline and dancing.  I especially want to thank Tom Ciardello, Barb Scarpelli and Carol Bergmann. Each year is a fresh start!  No matter how your child performed in school last year, he or she has the potential to do great things this year!  Be positive with your kids; let them know that we are all dedicated to making this a phenomenal year for them, but that they need to take the lead.  I am excited about greeting your children on the first day of school.
